Roadway Survey - IDOT Projects
• Tinley Park – IL 43 at 175th Street IDOT Project: C91-367-07Phase I design approval was received from District 1 December 12, 2008for this intersection improvement. An Intersection Design Study and full Phase I Study was conducted for this improvement selected for Highway Safety Intersection Program (HSIP) funding. Harlem Avenue is a Strategic Regional Arterial as well as state route. This offset intersection will be re- aligned, with turn lanes added. Phase II design is in progress.
• Romeoville – IL 53 at University Parkway IDOT Project: C91-038-06
Phase I was prepared for this Congestion Mitigation Air Quality project selected in the category of intersection improvement. A Location Drainage Study, Intersection Design Study and project development report with full NEPA compliance was completed. IL 53 is a principal arterial under state jurisdiction with11% truck traffic. The project was let under IDOT Contract No. 63033on January 16, 2009. Right of way evaluation was included in Phase I for upgraded traffic signals, two proposed turn lanes and a drainage improvement.
• South Holland – State Street from Armory Drive to Taft Drive IDOT Project: C91-239-06
Phase I was approved by District 1 on May 8, 2007 for this 1.0 mile roadway reconstruction with add lanes. The center of the project is anintersection improvement with realignment of the east and west legs of168th Street. A traffic warrant study, Intersection Design Study and fullPhase I Study was completed. State Street is a truck route under statejurisdiction through the Village of South Holland. The current intersectionat 168th Street provides a bottleneck with two lanes of traffic and a four-way stop condition. The improved intersection will provide four lanesof traffic on State Street between Armory Drive and Taft Drive; withinterconnect of the traffic signals at those intersections. The project waslet under IDOT Contract No. 63061 in November 2008. Right of wayevaluation was included in Phase I for nine parcels of land.
• Tinley Park – 191st St. from IL 43 to Ridgeland Avenue IDOT Project: C91-204-04
Phase I design approval was received from District 1 June 22, 2007 for this project, which consists of the one-mile reconstruction of 191st Street from Harlem Avenue (IL Route 43) to Ridgeland Avenue. A portion of the existing two-lane roadway is on private property through the First Midwest Bank Amphitheater. The proposed improvement will provide a four-lane highway with a 16’ paved median providing a new east-west arterial through the Village. Three Intersection Design Studies were completed. Warrant studies were conducted for two new traffic signals that will be provided at Ridgeland Avenue and Oak Park Avenue. An upgrade of signals with additional turn lanes will be constructed at Harlem Avenue. An enclosed drainage system will be provided. Phase II is in progress.
