Overview

Merrillville Conservancy District’s (MCD) Madison St/73rd St. 8 MGD lift station was over 50 years old, replacement parts were hard to obtain, and critical equipment had reached the end of its useful life.

MCD entered into Guaranteed Savings Contract with a Contractor that allows project savings to be applied to additional MCD projects​

Scope

• Demolition of existing Flowmatcher, Hydraulics, Pumps and Generator

• New Chopper Pumps run on VFD's and no longer clog

• Added new ingress/egress ships ladder to the dry pit

• Proposed Generator location allowed for existing conduits to be removed from the wet well

Results

• Higher efficiency pumps & equipment

• Energy savings reimbursed to MCD by NIPSCO

• High quality equipment provides reliability and real time remote monitoring
