Glenwood - George Arquilla Park Levee
The Glenwood George Arquilla Park Levee project involves improvements to the levee system to help reduce flooding and protect nearby homes and property. Work includes levee repairs, drainage upgrades, and ensuring the system meets federal safety standards.
The Village of Glenwood will unveil the new Glenwood Levee at George Arquilla Park, working to mitigate flooding for 29 homes and other community structures impacted by overbank flooding along Thorn Creek. This collaborative project represents a shared commitment to sustainable infrastructure, stormwater management, and enhanced neighborhood connectivity. The $5.156-million levee has a 12-foot crest, an average height of 7.5 feet, and a length of 1,250 feet. The project also involved installing 1,000 feet of storm sewer and other utility improvements.
