Lake Michigan Pipeline to Waterlink

Project: $300 million, 31-mile Lake Michigan pipeline extension 
(20” – 54” diameter) from DWC system in Naperville to Waterlink communities of Oswego, Montgomery & Yorkville.  Partnered with LAN and SCI as part of a 3-firm team that completed Phase I engineering within 8 months, currently completing Phase II and 120+ easements.

 

Challenges: Continual design changes for rapid new developments construction. Schedule delays/design changes related to ComEd corridors. Major utility coordination, traffic control/MOT at various locations.  Pipeline crossings at Fox River, Morgan Creek & three railroads.  Massive data file management.    
 

Successes:  Creative routing coordinated with multiple entities to route pipeline through school districts, new developments & roadway construction. Approvals from over a dozen agencies such as Kendall County Highway Department.  
 

Years: Phase 1 2023, Phase II 2024-25.  Construction 2025-27, operational in spring 2028.   Key Team Members: Aaron Fundich, John Hilsen, Randell Gann, Brad Lueders
