Roadway & Stormwater Improvements Phase I and II

Overview

There was extreme flooding at the intersections of Maple, Center, and Walnut, and North and Elm. This caused stormwater inside resident’s homes and significant yard flooding. There was a Lack of overland flow routes, an undersized stormwater conveyance system, and restrictive outlets to Spring Brook Creek.

Scope

• Constructed new storm sewer main lines (18”-48”) in right-of-way with inlets and check valves at critical locations

• Reconstructed and reprofiled roadways from rural to an urban section (curb and gutter); water main replacement

• Regraded parkway to provide positive drainage towards roadways

• Navigated utility requirements & coordinated public outreach initiatives

• Maintained access to residents and businesses during construction

 

Results

• Urbanized rural roadways

• Increased stormwater collection & conveyance

• Reduced street flooding

• Developed main trunk line storm sewers for future roadway urbanization

• Planned trunk line for future projects
