Romeoville Proposed Metra Station Preliminary Site Assessment & Investigation Southwest Corner of 135th St. & New Ave.

Overview

Robinson conducted a Preliminary Environmental Site Assessment (PESA) of three parcels of land located at the southwest corner of 135th Street and New Avenue, in Romeoville, Illinois. The project area included a 100-foot right-of-way owned by the Canadian National Railroad and two industrial parcels owned by the CITGO Lemont Refinery. The project area was redeveloped into a Metra train station. 

Scope
  • Conducted site visits of the project area and reviewed historical and geological information obtained from various local, state and federal sources in order to identify Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs)

  • Conducted Preliminary Environmental Site Assessment (PESA) conducted in a timely manner in accordance with the Illinois department of Transportation (IDOT) and Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS)

Results
  • The subsurface investigation included the advancement of soil borings and soil sampling and testing in the areas of concern
