Romeoville Metra Station Preliminary Site Assessment & Investigation
Southwest Corner of 135th St. & New Ave.
Robinson conducted a Preliminary Environmental Site Assessment (PESA) of three parcels of land located at the southwest corner of 135th Street and New Avenue in Romeoville, Illinois. The project area included a 100-foot right-of-way owned by the Canadian National Railroad and two industrial parcels owned by the CITGO Lemont Refinery, and the site was ultimately redeveloped into a Metra train station.
The project scope included conducting site visits of the project area and reviewing historical and geological information obtained from various local, state, and federal sources to identify Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs), along with completing the Preliminary Environmental Site Assessment (PESA) in a timely manner in accordance with Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS) requirements. These efforts resulted in a subsurface investigation that included advancement of soil borings and soil sampling and testing in areas of concern.
