Complete Streets

Romeoville, IL

Robinson Engineering completed the “road diet” by reducing the number of driving lanes from two to one in each direction, with protected left-turn-lanes, reducing the number of vehicular conflict points. We provided phase I, II, and III engineering services for this resurfacing and complete street improvement
Secured funding, in collaboration with the Village. We also constructed bicycle connection to regional paths, resurfaced roadways to enhance the pavement condition, provided construction observation, maintained IDOT’s CMMS documentation, and provided quality control of the construction work zone prepared plans in accordance with IDOT guidelines.

Complete Streets are defined as facilities that are designed, operated, and maintained to create a safe mode of transportation for all users of all ages, of all modes of transportation including pedestrians, bicycles, motorists, and all other users appropriate to the function of the facility.

The project incorporated the needs of all users of the Village’s transportation network and provide additional streets and roads as viable modes of transportation for bicycles, pedestrians, and vehicles. These improvements were achieved through planning, design, approval, and implementation through the construction, reconstruction and retrofitting of streets, roads and shared paths that have been identified as necessary improvements for the safety and convenience of all users.
