143rd Street Surveying

 

Overview

The 143rd Street survey included setting control points with GPS and traditional methods, mapping 3.5 miles of roadway, and surveying eight square miles of land. It also involved reviewing 160 property records and creating maps and legal descriptions for land needed by Will County and IDOT.

Scope
  • Establishment of horizontal and vertical controls for entire route utilizing GPS/GNSS technology along with conventional terrestrial methods.

  • Topography of approximately 3.5 linear miles of roadway, areas adjacent to roadway and all intersecting streets.

  • Boundary surveying of 8 United States Public Land Survey System (USPLSS) sections (a square mile per section).

  • Review of title commitments for approximately 160 parcels including the interpretation of legal descriptions, the placement of parcel lines, and the placement of existing easement lines.

  • Preparation of plats of highway for the length of the entire route comprised of total holdings, fee simple acquisitions, and temporary acquisitions in accordance with the Will County Department of Transportation standards and the Illinois Department of Transportation standards

  • Preparation of legal descriptions for fee simple acquisitions and temporary acquisitions in accordance with the Will County Department of Transportation standards and the Illinois Department of Transportation standards.
