Overview

Secured Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) was offering Public Sector Energy Efficiency (PSEE) grants for energy saving projects at wastewater treatment plants.

Scope​

• Solicited input from wastewater treatment plant operator throughout the design process and incorporated their preferences into the project design

• Equipment pre-purchase to expedite the project construction schedule

• Continual stream of communication with the contractor and Village to coordinate equipment down time, accelerate the construction schedule, and restore blower operation as soon as possible

Results

• Secured grant funding to pay for approximately 40% of the project construction cost

• Four-year project payback period

• New reliable equipment with $19,000 per year energy savings
