Robinson Engineering was founded as a one-man firm in 1937 by its namesake, Raymond W. Robinson, to provide professional engineering and land surveying services to the south suburban area. Unprecedented growth of the Chicago Southland following World War II produced a need for expanded residential, commercial and industrial complexes and their associated infrastructure needs. R.W. Robinson & Associates, as the company was formerly known, was the region’s leader in helping area communities to build new and expanded highways, traffic control systems, residential and arterial lighting systems, water and sewer systems, and treatment facilities.
Over the past seven decades, the firm’s growth has paralleled the region it serves. Robinson has served as the appointed municipal engineer in many of its client communities for more than 40 years, helping in the transition from growth-oriented, expanding towns to mature communities meeting the challenges of infrastructure rehabilitation.
In addition, many far south/southwest suburban areas are growing rapidly from farmland into brand new towns and subdivisions. These communities depend on Robinson for our unmatched experience in municipal master planning.
